Casual Chess Club was established in 2015 by Chris Watkins under its original name Casual Coffeehouse Chess Club. Since its inception, the club has been one of the fastest growing chess clubs in the Las Vegas valley area.
The club has met every week (except for holidays) for over-the-board chess play.

In January of 2020, the club established a “Clubhouse” on Chess.com named, Casual Chess Club – Las Vegas. Club members meet for Clubhouse tournament events per schedule.
The club’s current name and associated domain name “Casual Chess Club” and casualchessclub.com, respectively, was created by Ed Magik 0n May 1, 2018.
