The ABCs of chess: an overlooked resource – your library!
Beginners are often bewildered by the plethora of choices for self improvement. While there is terrific online content available an often overlooked resource is one of the oldest and most traditional sources of information – the local library. Nowadays libraries have embraced the distribution of digital content and the Clark County library is no exception. As you can see above there are 364! ebooks available. I certainly wouldn’t recommend all of them, but for a beginner willing to roll up his/her sleeves there is some good introductory material to dive into. This content is free to anyone with a library card (free). With ebooks you can go at your own pace however intense or leisurely that might be. Of course the CCC resources page identifies many good sources of chess information, but it’s worth keeping the library in mind. Got a question regarding chess book(s)? Send me a PM!
